My Books

If you liked reading this, pass it on.

Roslyn Carrington’s Contemporary Women’s Fiction

A Thirst For Rain

My favourite cover of all. Odile’s spirit is so strong.

Myra only wants to take care of her beautiful, willful daughter, Odile, and her father, Sebastian.  Now she’s pregnant for Slim, a ganja-smoking street peddler. Then she discovers 17-year-old Odile is pregnant, too.

Then there’s Rory, the manchild who shares the barrack-yard, and Jacob, the crippled but virile ex-stickfighter, who only wants to take care of them all.

This painting feels so West Indian. Reminds me of my childhood.

Every Bitter Thing Sweet
The cover of Every Bitter Thing Sweet showing a dark-skinned young man and woman, in simple silhouettes, in red, yellow and green.
Iyanla Vanzant had the same cover artist. I was so impressed.

Rory’s thoughts are still all for Odile.  How can he reach out to her, his old friend and one-time lover, after all that happened between them?

Sequel to A Thirst For Rain.   When Rory finds Odile, she’s waitressing in a filthy Port of Spain brothel, living with her boyfriend Vincent and the domineering Chinese war refugee, Miss Ling. See in store

Candy Don’t Come In Gray

I love the elegance and sophistication of this cover.

It’s hard being a secret, the product of your mother’s affair with a rich, married white man.  When he dies, her existence comes to light with devastating effects.  Mattie doesn’t want a penny from his will, but it hurts to see her half-sister have so much, especially her golden husband, the warm, brilliant Jonah.

Why should her sister have everything?

Dear Rita

I loved the intimacy of this cover.

Dorian’s a suave, well-dressed lawyer who specializes in men’s rights issues.

Rita’s an agony columnist with a mean feminist bias and an addiction to coffee.  One blind date for these two is one date too many.

‘Till Rita discovers that this tall, athletic brother not only looks like coffee, he smells warm and inviting too.

I was so excited to have a cartoon cover!

Backpacking around France helps Rissa escape from the pain of the past year.  When everything she owns is stolen, a teenage girl called Frankie takes her under her wing.  The offer of a clean place to sleep is impossible to resist – except that Frankie’s older brother, Evan, isn’t happy about her habit of bringing home strays . . .

 Then I Found You

This story is set at Carnival time. I’d have loved to see a costume in here!

Poor Kenya.  Getting dragged off to Trinidad in the middle of Carnival to confront a blackmailer.

Poor Damon.  Just back from a grueling stint as a security consultant in the Middle East, only to play nursemaid to a pampered, giddy-headed movie star.  And everyone knows he never takes female clients.  Not after what happened the last time . . . .

Wonderful and Wild

Cartoon covers are the best. As are men with moles all over…

Hailey’s African-American werewolf novels allow her to live comfortably with her autistic son, Will.  She doesn’t need her illustrator, Darius, be nice to them.  So why does she like him so much, with those yummy cinnamon moles, scattered across his face and torso like the constellation Scorpio?

And what’ll Darius say when he finds out who her baby’s daddy is?

Love Me All The Way

I lucked out with this cover. They both look so into each other.

Beautiful Tobago, with its miles of jewel-blue sea.  A place marine biologist Sarita could be happy.  Except she’s here under false pretenses, and working for her estranged husband, Matthias.

Once floored by love for this lion-maned, green-eyed demigod, she feels only resentment for the way he threw her out of his life.  But Tobago’s the island of second chances…

Mesmerized

Was never really crazy about this cover. Dude looks like a black Bart Simpson.

Sean’s PR job comes with loads of challenges, including babysitting newly-arrived whizz-kid executive, Christian DeVane.  Tough luck he happens to be her ex-fiancé, whose engagement ring she sent winging skyward the night she discovered he’d set himself up in a cozy little apartment on the other side of town – an apartment that came complete with a live-in blonde.

Night Heat

My first romance novel. I was so proud!

Trinidad is Rhea’s island, and as a tour guide, she loves to show it off.  So who the heck does this Marcus guy think he is, turning up with his laptop his camera, threatening to write an exposé on her small slice of paradise?  Getting stuck with him during a hurricane doesn’t help, either!
